All jokes aside, Coronavirus or as it is known among its virus homies COVID-19, is a serious and real threat in Bangladesh.  With everyone panic buying hand-sanitizers, masks and stocking up on food, you’d think that it’s the zombie apocalypse and the weapon of choice is a spray gun filled with alcohol grade blue water.  So let’s take a look at what actually Coronavirus is before   someone drenches you with harmful chemicals. Second decade of the 21 st century and we are still stuck in the argument of how or whether celebrating this particular day is empowering or ‘just another marketing strategy’. Struggles the womankind face every day can definitely not be encompassed and mended in just a day. Women’s day is not just another “Hallmark” event, it is not about discounts and offers. It is wrong to emphasize empowering one’s business in the name of a particular day. However, it is NOT wrong to be celebrating the millions of women, whose marches, protests, fights and achievements have granted us today the rights that should have been our basic human right forever? Empowerment today is shrouded by doubts, overcompensation, skittish remarks and derisive laughter starting from home till abroad; irrespective of gender, race and caste.
